Got the assignment back from FAS a few weeks ago. I did very well on the this assignment except for the last part, the shape design. My design wasn't what they were for looking for. The feedback/drawing was extremely helpful on what I should have been doing.

It is pretty cool to see someone that is actually working through the FAS assignments. When I read your comment about them smelling like they were stored in an attic (early post) it made me laugh out loud. That is what the old binders I bought on eBay smell like. I have a couple copies of the regular Artists course (from different years), and a copy of the discontinued Cartoonists course that is missing some pages (sadly). They get better and more complex as you go on. Your blog is inspiring me to get off the log and do something with my drawing, and try out Flash for traditional animating. I DLed and installed the demo of a program called Mirage that is for animating, but I didn't do anything with it. The demo videos for it make it look pretty good. I DLed the demo and will try out Toon Boom that I see you are using (when I am ready).
Andreas, thanks for your comment. Overall, I've been very happy the FAS course, especially the exercises as they require me to work in a manner that would take me a long time to discover on my own (if ever). As for animating, my sympathies... (but good luck too!) I highly recommend perusing JK's websites (Craft Of ... and Tallgrass Studios).
